One of my motor mounts broke on my 1989 F-150 2wd truck and I was wondering if I could replace the the motor mount that broke with an aftermarket mount and leave the good motor mount in the truck. Would I have to replace both motor mounts with the same type? I'm supposed to have hydraulic_motor mounts, but as far as I can tell their not. Who sells the best motor mounts, between NAPA and Carquest? Thanks

You can tell if the mounts are hydraulic by the shape of theme- hyd. mounts are round, and sit between the motor support and the frame, vertically. Standard mounts bolt directly to the engine, and have a thin chunk of rubber, then a single bolt through a perch on the frame. The two really can't be mixed and matched. One word of warning, though- if you have hydraulic mounts, and change one, nine times out of ten, the other will tear while you have the motor up.
I guess I do have hydraulic motor mounts, thanks. The motor mount broke while I lifted up the motor to change the oil pan gasket. I think their the original motor mounts that came with the truck, but so was the spark plugs and wires. I bought the truck about two month ago (first truck or vehicle, I bought myself) and I keep finding more things to fix every week.
