EGR Cooler Plate

As much time I've spent on here you'd think I'd be able to find it...but for what ever reason I keep coming up empty handed. A couple of months ago someone posted a link to one of the aftermarket folks that was selling a simple little plate that goes in the back of the EGR cooler to block exhaust gases from entering the EGR cooler; the plate was something like $10, but they wanted $15-$20 to overnight it to you. I've been talking to Clay at RiffRaff about this (my personal preference for 6.0L parts)...and he's wondering who offering/making them. I'm not that good at fabricating/machining metal. And I want my EGR to remain useable..thus I'm not going to weld a plug into either end.

Since I'm running an '03 engine...I feel my cooler isn't likely to leak; thus I'm planning on leaving mine in place "just in case" (dang Prius tree-hugers). Looks like I'm finally getting around to my oil cooler replacement/turbo cleaning/intake cleaning project (been very busy at work) and I don't want to get my intake dirty again.

I havent seen anything like this for awhile just this and I know you dont want it. I cant remember where I saw just the plate thouigh I pretty shure I saw something like it B4 just like you

If I had to do it again I would probably use this kit

River City Diesel EGR Cooler Delete kit 6.0L

I have mine EGR Cooler all saved to in the Garage IDK that early didnt have that scoop at the time I did the work. so I did the new Uppipe and took cooler out. I just thought compleate deleate would eliminate all problem.

Did you ever get that oil cooler changed Zach?? I assume you waiting for this part???and some time would be nice

I know what you mean about cleaning the intake. Sheesh all that soot in there. After seeing all that soot in there, i regretted not getting a egr delete from bulletproof.

Could you just stick a freeze plug in there?

Zach I can Measure for a Round EGR Cooler CAP if that will Help get ya a OD Size

Then do just like Cheezit says and Use a Exhaust gaSKet

As Long as whatever it is is Flat maybe 1/8 inch thick with a Metal Exhaust Gasket or the like you will Be Fine

When you Look at that Cap in the one from my Link The Beval Edge Faces OUT so the Clamp Forces Tight and the Flat side goes to Uppipe with Gasket Between each part

I need to figure out how to clone myself. Thus one can go to work and the other can sit on the computer half the day and spend the rest of the day working on projects around the house.

That kit is the same thing Clay offers at RiffRaff...which I have no problem with. I'm just planning on leaving the cooler in place for safe keeping (don't want to loose it, just in case). Thus only the billet disk is what I'm looking for. I'm beginning to think it's all a figment of my twisted imagination.

Nope, I haven't had time to get the oil cooler changed/coolant flushed yet. But then Saturday was the first day in two weeks my truck has moved (been riding the scooter in town to work, six mile commute). Long story really short, up until April I was working out on the road staying in our 5th wheel. In April I came home for good (new employer). When I was originally going to pull the truck apart was when I needed to have it to get the trailer home. This new employer is keeping me busy, which looks great on the paycheck...but stinks when it comes to projects like this.

That's my exact thought, if/when the day comes that I have to pass some BS emissions test...I may have to go back to using the EGR cooler. I'm hoping the local government in my part of the world keeps their senses...but past experience has taught me, what starts in Mexifornia usually ends up effecting all of us.

That's my next thought if I can't find one already available. The one that costs more to ship than the actual part...it out of the budget.

That's what I was thinking...about 1/8" steel should be able to withstand the 1400F of the exhaust without melting. If you happen to have a round EGR cooler laying around...I'd appriate the measurement. No need to tear your truck apart on my account....I'll have mine apart soon enough.
