I saw this hour long ad on TV about a product called Z-Max. I was wondering if this stuff really works. It's supposed to make your mpg go up tremedously.
it's kind of interesting how the revolutionary, knock your socks off, extraordinarilly special products are only advertised very early in the mornings, say 2 to 3 AM, when ad rates are at rock bottom. If the product was worth a plugged nickel, is it reasonable to think that the product would be advertised when people are actually awake? Or if the product was so great, would the major car manufacturers use it? Would WallyWorld carry it?
From what I have heard about this stuff, it is actually just mineral oil. Does it work? I don't know. Maybe you need more oil in your fuel system. Personally, I would rather keep my engine in proper tune, use a real fuel system cleaner when needed, or overhaul the carb. I don't believe in a cure-all magic bottle.
I acually gave in and bought some because i was getting about 11 miles to the gallon and have a 99 f150 5.4L v8 which should get about 14-18 especially with all the stuff I'v done to it. (its a big list if you really want to know I'll tell you) and now i'm getting about 12.5-13.5 mpg so it helped a little, of course I didn't follow the directions because they are general directions designed for about 14 gallon tanks or so on average, so I waited till my tank was half empty to put it in because I have a 24.5 gallon tank.
