I have been seeing "ZMax" on the SPEED channel lately and heard the it can be used in diesels, does anyone use it, have any comments, or knows if there is another thread somewhere I can look?
My uncle uses it in his equipment at his junk yard. They have a early 90's International rollback that hasn't had anything touched under the hood with a ton of miles on it and it gets a ZMax treatment once a year. I just know its expensive!
ive d it a couple times in the past with no negative side effects. dont know if i seen any kind of improvement but nothing bad for sure. A lot of people will tell you not to use additives with a 6.0PSD because they use oil pressure to fire your injectors but they claim that Zmax isnt an additive but a micro-lubricant so as long as it meets specs then its good i think
According to the FTC, the CRC L38 test is a standard auto industry tool to measure the bearing corrosion protection properties of motor oils. In February/March 1997, an independent laboratory performed two CRC L38 tests of zMax for Speedway and Oil Chem. In those tests, motor oil treated with zMax produced more than twice as much bearing corrosion as motor oil alone.
