ok, so your saying i need to use wire nuts then right? and stuff all the extra wires behind the radiator, and tape them down with masking tape so they dont hit that big spinning thing back there
I just got a set of Pia driving lights to fill either side of my license plate. Upfitter #1
they look great and offer a considerable amount of additional light.
I just installed mine (Santa came early). If the nut insert becomes lose, I'm taking ownership of the part and doing a mod. going to remove the plastic tailgate cover. Drill a 1 1/2" hole in to the tailgate to gain access to the hole where the nut insert is. I'll remove and install a standard washer, lock washer and nut onto the threads. Tailgate protector will cover the hole and I won't have to worry about it. I did tighten mine about 12 turns...I'm hoping it stays tight.

I use nutserts on my custom cars all the time. and 9 turns for this one is just not tight enough.. (I didn't count.., just turned til I was happy)
the good steel ones from fastenal are the best I've used.
I used locktite on the bolt to make sure it didn't back out after installing the plate.
thanks...I'll wait and see how it goes. I never thought over ordering a new one from Fastenal. I'm sure they will love looking up that part number to bring in 1! *fingers crossed*

They usually have a box of them.. I buy 5 or 10 at a time.
the aluminum ones from Harbor Freight etc are ok for very light load, but strip easy..
but I like Savage's idea about a new washer and all on the back end as I have my old step gate that I want to put in place of this replacement step, etc...
in my case the outside piece is fine, it's the inside piece that is not strong enough....
thinking a large washer, lock washer, and back to back nuts as a lock nut would hold it fast...
on Edit @ 2PM: UPS just rang the doorbell and dropped off the deezee hardware kit(s) ....
now to drill out the old one with a 7/16" drill - this should be fun !
