Tailgate step and bed extender
How would one go about trading a dealer or finding someone who may want to swap out a new factory tailgate with the step assembly straight across for a plan Oxford white locking tailgate? 2008 F250 super duty.

1. You could order a new one but that would be big $$$$,
2. Maybe you can hover around the dealer and talk someone into ordering the tailgate with their new truck and then swapping it with yours...??
3. Keep a keen eye out at the salvage yards for some unfortunate truck that got front end damage,
4. Go on something like craigslist,
5. Bring a buddy with you and have him distract the salesman...
Just some ideas...........

I think that trading a tailgate with a step for one without is going to be much easier.
A good place to check out is any shop that makes and installs service bodies. A lot of the time they will have extra beds and tailgates that they have taken off of trucks and the owners leave there.
If you don't mind me asking why are you looking to get rid of the tailgate with the step?

Beerstalker,
We are planning on buying a 4x4 camper long bed which means we need to leave the tailgate down. The bump created by the handle is an problem. I also am thinking of having the Linex sprayed on the bed and we would have a linex bed and what looks like a bedliner bed.
I may be wrong but so far that is what we have been told.

The step is a $350.00 option, so giving one to a dealer should be no problem.

Line X will allow a wet bed to drain, vs a drop in that will create a small pool. Drill holes in it, and you have defeated your bed protection.
