I just installed the deezee. It broke in about 5 tries. Nutsert bites.
I hope that is not that case with mine (should be here in a couple of days). What is the nut insert doing? Stripping out? Coming lose? Anything that can be done to reinforce it?
The Nutsert is just not beefy enough to handle the stress of slowing the tailgate down. It's very close to the pivot point and there must be at least 400 pounds of pull on that little thing when it catches the tailgate in a free fall. It's a geometry thing, the magnification of weight forces the closer you get to the fulcrum. No leverage there at all, just brute force.
Anyone with experience with nuts and bolts can tell by feel that something is tight, being installed right, you can feel the Nutsert clamping down like a drywall moly. It's pretty easy to tell when it's tight and on the brink of stripping out.
