Ive had my truck for about 2 years now and have done all the stuff in my signature plus some. I put a set of 38s on it not long ago, I still have 3:73 gears so I know thats affecting a lot of power theres more to it Ill explain. When I bought my truck it had 36x14.5s on it and before I put the tuner on it would set me back in my seat just a little. When I put the tuner in WOW she went from what I expect an 8000 pound truck to do to the fastest full size truck Ive ever owned in 15 mins!!
Now to clear up what Ive been noticing over the past year, she doesnt get up and go much, I still make about 25 pounds of boost smokes in 80e until the turbo lights then it clears up. During the winter months I put on a set of 315/75r16 (34.5") snow tires which I took off not long ago so the feel of the truck with the power level and tire is still fresh in my mind. Something is weak shes a turd, because it feels like Im in my stock tune with my 36'' tires while Im really in my 80e tune with the 315/75 on it. At first I thought I was just getting used to the power... Until my wife asked me why the truck was such a dog.... Any ideas?? This is driving me crazy
250K miles and my HPOP is giving up... new one next weekend (if it arrives in time). My symptoms? Spunky in low RPM, but fizzles pretty quick. AE data confirmed HPOP is too pooped to pop.
Tugly I just rolled 114K, but the symptoms seem to be the same.
Ive always made 25-27 psi boost at WOT so I dont have a boost leak. I did set the tuner to "stock" and yeah... I felt like I needed to get out and help push her to get moving.
I dont have AE or know anyone who does and I cant afford to bite the bullet yet, lets say it is the HPOP going out will it hurt anything at all or just loss of power until I can get AE and fix it

IF it is the HPOP, I haven't yet heard of one just up and dying... but I'm still a semi-newbie. I know there are many out there with weak HPOPs chugging along - myself included. Have you tried putting out the call for those in your area with AE? I helped someone the last time I was in the Seattle area.

Cool! You may already know this, but I'll post it anyway (these instructions are generic): All sampling times at default 100 milliseconds works fine. MPH- set max to 100 RPM - set max to 4000 Injector Control Pressure - set max to 4000 Injector Control Pressure Duty Cycle Accelerator Position Sensor volts - set scale to 20 Fuel Injector Pulse Width - set scale to 10
Anything more than that will slow down the data sampling, anything less than that can't paint the whole HPOP picture. Find a desolate straight road in good weather (and with good tires) and stop. Make one stock run by burying your foot (make sure the floor mat isn't blocking anything) and run it up to something safe for you and let off. I usually get up to 80, that gets me enough data. I tried 90 once and that was overkill, so I feel warm and fuzzy about 80.
If you have a tuner, put on your biggest HP tune and do the same run again. It's important to remove variables in conditions, so using the same straight road (same incline/deline, if any) right after the stock run (same weather and fuel load) will give the most accurate information. Removing variables isn't critical for testing for a bad HPOP, but it really aids in getting a before/after profile if you do any repairs.
Thanks Tugly I dont know anything about AE at all. I hope Dan does. My highest setting... that 140 aggressive and I was advised not to drive in it, I just use it to blow smoke. Maybe Ill stick with the 120. Some times I wish you were my neighbor lol
Firefighter..... There all yours if you want them... Im not saying your going to like the price (I gotta make a profit) but there yours
