Possible ASE issues.

Hey guys I have been driving my truck around a little more over the last few days and have been noticing some issues my truck seems to be having while running the ASE tune with the Spartan Phalanx tuner.

When I am driving (doesn't seem to really matter what speed, slow or fast) and roll into the throttle between 1/2 to 3/4 throttle my truck seems to have a big surge of power followed by the truck seeming to fall flat on its face. While doing this I have also found that the boost gauge was reading as high as 34 psi. EGT's were in the 1100-1300 range pre-turbo on the top end. Also once in a while the tranny doesn't seem to know what to do.

Likewise if I was to step down on the throttle (WOT) the truck downshifts and seems to have pretty good power but not like what it has when I get the surge of power when I roll into it. When doing this, the boost seems to stay around 24-26 psi with the EGT's in the same 1100-1300 range.

Anyone else having any issues? Any advice on what I should do or be looking for? Truck is pretty much stock. Stock Turbo (been replaced less than 20k miles ago), stock intake, straight piped exhaust.

Thanks for your help guys!

Anyone have any thoughts? Is this something wrong with my truck or possibly the tune? This is the first time I have been custom tuned. Thanks guys.

The only thing I'm sure of is if you have stock head bolts, the hg"s aren't going to last much longer at 34 lbs. boost. A stock truck will normally peak out at 28 while pulling a load.

i don't know forsure because i have never used a phalanx but with the SCT's it sometimes takes a little while for the transmission to learn the new tune. my custom ASE tune for my SCT ran great and didn't have the shifting issues and not know when to shift like the HR tune did. i'm not sure why your turbo is boosting so high and the power is acting like you explained. how long ago was the turbo replaced timewise (20k miles ago)?? maybe the veins are sticking open, that was the problem with one of my old turbos and caused the truck to over boost and pop the heads and that was when the truck was stock (not trying to scare you). good luck Andy and hopefully someone with the new phalanx will know more or maybe someone from spartan will help you.

I have ben running the same tune. That boost # sounds high I have been getting 25# or so WOT but i have my EGR blocked off don't know if you do or not or if that would make a difference. As for the driving it seams like a different animal once you pass half throttle. The 2 to 3 shift was a little sloppy like it would go in to neutral for a sec then shift.. after about a week that went away. I talked to matt he knows there are still some issues to work out. But i would call him about the boost # for sure.. He told me he was going to be out of town this week thoe.
