It's also loud because you have it open. The boots on the shifter, esp. the white "inner" one, and the hard plastic bezel, make a BIG difference wrt. the noise level in the cab. Once you button it up, with the carpet in place, you'll hardly notice it.
I was wondering that too. Mine started out extremely loud when I switched to the SMF, but eventually went away. I have a tiny bit of gear rollover now with the dual disc, but I have to be under the truck and right beside the trans to hear it. Not sure why it goes away after awhile.
If you listen close with mine, there is rollover still, but its so faint its not worth it.
But then some guys get no rollover at all.
I think its just an imbalance in the transmission. *shrugs*
Nobody really has a good explanation for it other than the fact the transmission is echoing the sound of the motor. But if that was the case, (haha... pun) it would never go away.
Well, got her all buttoned up and drove it to work today. I think the plastic bushing being removed from the end of the slave cylinder piston rod is bitting me in the butt.
With the clutch pushed in as far as I can possibly stand on it, the truck wants to move in 1st & reverse. Also, If I barely release the clutch it acts like it is fully released. Is there any way to adjust it?
Also still have an exhaust leak at the DP, but that I can fix.

Did you check the fluid in the clutch master cylinder? It sounds like it's not bled. If you took the cap off so you could depress the slave cylinder, then that is indeed your problem most likely. If that plastic cap turns out to be your problem, than maybe that's what my problem is. I've never had this issue until I did my clutch this last time and during that time the plastic cap went MIA, so I don't have it now. Maybe that takes up just enough space to cause a problem, but I kinda doubt it.
I'm pretty sure the little plastic cap is missing from mine and I don't have this problem. I did when I bought the truck, when it still had the DM flywheel and old clutch. I tried bleeding it and that didn't help, so I put a master and slave from another truck I have on it and it's fine now.
