I have a 2005 F250 with a 6.0 with 130,000 I am the 3rd owner. No real problems I want to replace the oil cooler, the STC fitting, stand pipes, and either replace the EGR cooler or weld ends up, do a EGR bypass or a delete? While I'm in there. A little hard to start when warm. Who has the best oil cooler. IPR is out of there heavy duty ones. Need some advice on what to do and to get replacement parts. Plan on doing it my self. Wanting to fix these things before becoming a problem.
Can't afford that but got OEM replacement oil cooler, Upgrade Sinister EGR cooler with bigger ports. My question is with this new egr cooler what would hurt if I welded up the end that connects to the exhaust. I also got the new STC fitting, new updated stand pipes and dummy plugs., updated turbo in and outlet oil tubes. Figure while I'm in there fix it.
i have a IPR oil cooler an im very pleased with it. Its far from being junk as richsoucie says. if its ur daily driver an your not going to be towing alot of heavy loads, i would suggest a IPR oil cooler to anyone.highest oil temps i ahve seen from my IPR oil cooler has been around 235 an that was pulling my 7500 lb camper. coolant temp was around 195. 235 degree oil temp isnt high enough to have any worries at all about.
if you have a sinister egr cooler , no need to weld it up. it wont rupture like the factory one will. if you were goin to weld up a egr cooler, should have just kelp factory one or bought a egr delete kit.
but to answer ur question, no it wont hurt to weld a plug in ur egr cooler.
