oil cooler question

What kind of temperature spread do you have between ECT and EOT?
Here's the deal. If you delete the EGR cooler then you can get away with a larger temp. spread because you won't have an EGR cooler to fail. The thing you need to watch is how high the oil temps get. 254* will cause a defuel. 350 will cause catastrophic failure because the oil filter standpipe melts and runs through the engine oil passages. It's not the oil that fails at those temps, it's the rest of the parts

If you dont know that^^^^^ then you could be throwing away a perfictly GOOD Oil Cooler
But due to the amount of Labor involved and since the same amont of work is required to get at either one Some folks do elect to just change it
for a couple hundred bucks you may just want to change it out since its not to expensive if you go threw Tousley Ford

If your pulling the egr the cooler needs replaced especially if you haven't done the coolant service. The BDP is great but too pricey for most. Try United Ford 1 (800) 677-2277, ask for Randy Mac. Great service & prices to match. Ship all over from Oklahoma.

I just did my egr delete and oil cooler, finished it tonight. It wasnt to bad..
So with a egr delete you can have a higher ect and dot spread?? Not that I'm planning on it with a new oil cooler but it would be nice to know!

did it fit in the garage?
to the OP if the pocket book allows, the bpd unit is the best thing out there, but it is cost prohibitive for most on a budget, with the labor involved i just didn't want to tear that deep for the same thing. buy a scanguage 2 so you can monitor the spread going forward
