I used a 3121 canister filter from Napa and it's equivalent base (I don't know what the PN is). The 3121 is a 32 micron filter, but you could also use a 3118 which is a 21 micron. The base had 1/2NPT ports so all I needed was some 1/2NPT to 1/4NPT reducers and then some 1/4NPT to 3/8" hose barb fittings. That along with some 3/8" injection hose worked really well. No problems whatsoever, just fill the filter up with fuel first, or you might be waiting awhile for it all to prime.
