when testing the ficm will the reading read the same if the truck as been running let say for 30min aswell as its first start up in the morning?? hope that makes sence lol
let me tell you my problem i think i have more grey hairs now thank you mr. 6.0 lol ok here it goes if i start my truck up and take off it has hesitation for a lil bit.. now if i go out let my truck sit and idol for about 2-3 mins it runs fine like its suppose 2!!! so i am thinking it is my ficm but not totally sure also i have had no smoke of any color and my truck does not shake i resently had a dead battey 3 weeks ago and then all this crap started happen and i also had a fuel leak where the regulator is and like a ******* i only order the reseal kit not the upgraded spring.(which now i have ordered) lol also i just change the ficm 7 months ago threw ford!!!
Yikes! FICM is a good chunk of change from Ford. Battery/charging issues are hard on the FICM I would check it cold. It has a larger load on it then and battery voltage is at its lowest with the GP's on. You may also want to double check the connectors, there a booger to get to but if not clicked in all the way they can be an issue.
My truck acts the same as you describe and FICM volts are good. Rev X cleared it up for a while so I think it's an injector issue.
You've likely read several posts about em, but a Scangauge II is a great addition to a 6.0, you could check all this FICM stuff from the drivers seat in about 30 seconds.
well the price was too bad my buddy works there so he gets it for me at his cost!!!! but let me ask you if it was an injector wouldnt i be blowing some kinda smoke??? and i seen the video on changing those yea not for me lol!!! my truck has been sitting for about 8 hours i am going to check it soon and keep you up to date!!!
I don't see any smoke from mine. A leaking injector would be different. I just got 1 or 2 missin (sticking) when there cold. Everything's goo by the time oil temp gets to 85f or so. That scanner should be good for codes (CAN compliant) Snap-on sells pretty good stuff. It would need to be able to do a cylinder balance test to really check injectors but it will show a bad one if it or it's "channel" in the FICM fails. Ford and AutoEnginuity are the only two I know that does that.
Just from what I found with my FICM. It took 10-12 seconds for my FICM to go from 40v to 48v at cold starting point. After my truck was warmed up, my FICM always read 47.5v-48.0v.
Not sure what you check your ficm with. Just thought I would throw this info out there.
