Not a 65 engine with those casting numbers, might have read the numbers wrong, C6AE-R's are 66 352 heads

c8ae is a 1968 engine
as for what size measuring bore and stroke only real way to tell .
get cylinder to tdc pull a plug and drop a long wood dowel in cylinder mark dowel , remove dowel and turn engine over by hand till cylinder is at bottom insert dowel and mark again . 3.5 = 360 3.75 = 390

Those numbers you posted could also be C8AE-H, which are your run of the mill 68-71 FE heads. Could be either a 360 or 390, both used the same heads.

Probably 360/390 but could be a 352 (3.5 stroke) with later heads , could be a destroked 427 , he he , just sayin could be anything . Like you said , until you measure the bore and stroke ....

My bone stock original '66 F250 4X4 with a 352 has C4AE's. Same as Grandpa's '65 352.
