I have a chance to buy a 352 that came from a 74 montego for $100. I asked the guy if he could get me some numbers for the block and he will be getting back to me. However, does anyone know if these montego motors were any good? It has a 2bbl on it.
Well...I did a little research on the montego(I am not very familiar with this model car) on the internet and some did come with 302s, 351Cs and 352s. However, I did not find any spec on rating for the 352 in that particular model.
I've never own a 352, but thought about getting a pair of 352 heads for my 390 build I'm going to start on next winter for my truck.
the 352 was in the FE family and was dropped in 1966 or 1967. could it be a 390? reason being is the FEs usually have a 352 stamped on the front of the engine.
The Montego was compared to the Torino. If it is in fact an FE motor, you will of course need to check the stroke of the motor. The Montego came with engines up to the 429 in it's life, so anything is possible. You will probably have to take a look at the motor, the seller doesn't seem to really know... FE's were offered in the Merc car line until 71 and of course they were 390 or better engines. The last 352 was in the 1967 trucks.
OK, well that would narrow it down a bit. The guy who owns it is somewhat knowledgable about Ford and I think he would know what family it would be. However it could very well be that the motor might have been slapped in the car at sometime. I'll have to investigate more and in reality can't do much until I get some numbers from him.
Thanks for the info on this guys! I appreciate it.
