Salvage Yard Engines??

Hey guys, still on the latest search for a replacement engine for my 360. I've recently turned to possible salvage yards? Would an engine be worth the money to buy from a yard?

That does sound low, but, on the other hand, my engine only had 92,000 on it. I knew the owner, and he kept it barn ridden for years.

Most motor homes spend 90% of their lives sitting in storage lots, or the owners driveways. So it is possible that the 35k on the odometer is correct. Of course, it is also possible it is one of those 10% who have trekked across the country several times too. The only way I would buy an engine from a junkyard or salvage yard would be if I were going to rebuild it. As you never know, the reason the vehicle could be in the junkyard in the first place is it may have blown an engine. Obviously, if you see one that is rear ended, or T-boned, you can make a safe bet that it is in for that. I have had 2 or 3 vehicles towed to a JY after having blown the motor, and they never mark the vehicle to let anyone know the motor is toast.

It does make sense though, in all actuality. I'm just having a hard time finding an engine to drop in, I have the option to put a 300/6 in, but so much more difficulty in doing so.
