I have a 1994 F-150 and I was looking for an opinion on my dash. The exterior of the truck is white, but eventually I want to get it painted a flat tan. I'm thinking of doing the interior a gray, but right now it's a horrible blue. I was wondering if there is a paint for the dash or do I need a whole new dash and door panels? Any opinions? Its not going to be a show truck, but will be used for camping, shooting, and daily driver.
If you want to paint the interior, I would suggest LMC's ColorBond paint. If you decide to go with the tan, then I would get some gray to go over the blue as a base coat, then go over the gray with the tan.
Sweet. Does that color bond work pretty well on the plastic? And it was Exterior I want the flat tan, kind of like a primer. The interior is what I want to be gray. Would the gray cover the blue pretty well?

From what I hear it works pretty good, I think there was somebody on here that used it with great results. I can not say for myself though.
And ok sorry in that case I think the gray would cover the blue just fine.
I'm sure if you did a search on the ColorBond you could find out some more info. on the stuff.

I've used said color bond...
Pro's-
-Covers the area nice and easy (2-3 coats usually does it)
-Blends well
Con's-
-Unless you have a way to "Bake" the paint....To cure it out a tad better than air dry, it'll scratch fairly easy...
-Is sorta thin at times while spraying (Can cause runs, etc)
-You need the plastic adhesive stuff too (I didn't use it) Helps prep/bond the paint to the plastic
-Price...$13 a can is a tad steep to me...Just a personal thing
Otherwise, have at it..
And yes, I HIGHLY recommend a mid coat...between the dash and the last color of paint...
It can be tinted in this manner also...White primer for lighter, grey for medium, and black for dark, and so on....
Check out the interior paint here also. I've also used some stuff called Mar-Hyde way back when. It may or may not still be available but it worked quite well.
I used dupicolor on a car that i did and it worked good. I let it dry for like 3 days. The other suggestion might be to swap interiors? Im sure they had gray dashes.... I think mine is gray. But if you do paint I highly advise that you pull the parts to paint out of the truck and get them to dry. My first truck i wanted a low rider and experimented with painting my dash and it started with just trim then i did the whole dash long story short It dried in the truck and was painted in the truck and a few weeks after painting it you could still smell the paint fumes
You can paint the dash with good results, But any high traffic itemI would replace. Such as door panels and kick panels. Other wise you will wear right thru the paint
This is just my two cents. I would not paint any interior plastic like the dash or door panels etc. It will never look as good and will flake off. I'd swap all the panels for gray or tan interior parts from a junkyard truck or leave the blue. If you paint the truck gray, the blue interior wouldn't be bad. Just be glad your truck doesn't have the hideous red interior.
Agreed, swapping out is the preferred route to take. These interior parts in good condition are getting harder and harder to find in some areas though.
Yeah, I just took off part of my dash panel today to replace the ignition and holy crap! **** just started falling apart cause the guy who had it before me had it all rigged, so I'm going to have to replace the whole dash. Any Ideas on where to get one? I live in Las Vegas and I've looked at the junk yards and all the ones I've found have been sitting out in the sun and heat and are dried and cracked.

Keep looking and if you find one....clean it and use a deep penetrating protectant....It'll keep fading and cracking away...
