Update.....

I will try to have this make sense but it isnt going to be easy.

My idea to fix my problem was that I was thinking the equalizer shaft was not pushing the throw out bearing far enough to disengage the clutch.

I removed the pin from the clevis and adjusted it a 1/4 inch out so when I put it back together I had to pry the equalizer tube forward with a pipe wrench because the throw out bearing was pushing on the clutch disc. I finally got it lined up and I pushed the clutch pedal in and tried to move the truck forward.

I have made progress because the truck did roll but there was still drag on it, but not like before. I was going to adjust each finger 1 turn out to releive pressure from the throw out bearing so it could spin when the pedal was not pressed.

I adjusted the finger bolt 1 turn through the inspection cover and the finger moved and pressure was releived. I put a socket on the motor to turn it over to adjust the next finger and I heard a "thud". I rocked it the other way and tried it again and the same thing happened.

I pulled the starter thinking it may be bound in the flywheel but no luck, still makes that "thud" like it is hitting something.

Looks like the transmission will be coming out next

Update as to why motor wont turn over.....

Pressure Plate hits and rubs the inside of the hogs head/ bell housing.

I will have to clearance the inside of the bell housing to make room for the pressure plate. It doesnt hit my much but I bet I have to remove an 1/8" from the inside of where the bolts thread through

It happened to me, too. Only I didn't catch it before I started the engine! My god, I thought the trans was going to jump up thru the floor! The PP cover was hitting the boss where one of the trans bolts goes. It took all of 10 seconds to file off enough to eliminate the hit.

Ross, sounds like the same exact thing. I think the PP is only going to contact 1 threaded hole boss but I am going to slightly angle the ends of the boss of every hole to make sure I have the clearance I need.

I mated the engine and trans out of the truck and droppoed it in as 1 unit but I just pulled the trans to solve this problem. It seems like this is going to be tough to get it back in and get the input shaft lined up.

Hey guys, I'm restoring my 49 F1, while it was dismantled the "equalizer bar"? went missing. Do you know who sells them, I can't find one and it's about the only thing I still need to get her going. I'm a new member and am so blown away by this site!!
