i have the 4.2 L v6 and i wold like just a little more pep out of her. most of the time it is great freeway passing in 4th is a little anemic. is there a cheap way of getting anther 20 HP out of it?

CAI's and stuff like that often claim to give 20 more HP but don't fall for it that has been under the best conditions. To really gain some more HP out of it would be a tuner. Its anywhere between 250-450 on average for a good one. Custom tunes would be better but they are not for everyone. Even with the tuner though most you might get is about 7hp.
Now if you wanted to spend a little bit you could do CAI, full exhaust with high flow cats, and a tuner. that might get you up to 20 HP.

No problem good luck with your truck! K&N still claims that if you add one of the air filters you will get 10 HP I have nothing to say on that but I do run a K&N filter in my truck but mainly just because I am used to it and like it.
