Someone is gonna have to prove to me that you will gain 1 mpg. I don't think it is near that much.
You know it is funny because some guys like you had trouble with heat and it fixed it and I never have so I think it is just a matter of how lucky a guy is on how there truck reacts to the cold. LOL Main thing is it worked for you. Did you keep track of fuel mileage before and after on a consistent basis?
ok, so let's call it .5 mpg.
and let's say it's $40. that's still 12 tanks and it paid its self off... just sayin

IMO, unless you drive the EXACT same route the EXACT same way every day, your mileage is going to vary. Going to be way to hard to get an accurate reading on JUST a thermostat change.
I never bought into the hype of the 203 degree thermostat, stock one works well for me
Working on getting the rear speakers installed in my car. It never had them to start with, so I picked up the housings at the junk yard the other day and had some brand new speaker laying around to put in them. The speakers that were in the housings were SHOT.
I agree Troy. My truck, once fully warmed up, will roast you out of the cab. Even on the cold days.
I really can't see 8 degrees in water temp making all that big of a difference.
That is cool on the speakers! You will be rocking out soon!

That maybe true but still not a believer in that mod.

That is just it Mike. Very hard to tell if that will gain you mileage especially if it is just a little amount you are gaining when you can't get the same exact driving conditions.

Not consistent enough to see. To many other factors to notice those little increases. I think I did try another stock one and had the same condition. 8* doesn't seem like much but for me it was a big difference.

Well, as long as it worked for you that is all that matters.
Unless you track every detail including weather conditions its hard to prove. I suspect most of the people saying increased heat are a result of simply replacing a bad t-stat. I've also read that even the OEM ones aren't always good out of the box.
