About 15* here.
Good morning Jay! Nice to have that heat isn't it Jay!

Seems to me if the t-stat was stuck open it would never get to even 184 especially in the winter.
Can you get hotter thermostat for 6.oh no? I put a 203* one in my 96 7.3 and now I have nice heat in the winter. I might do that to the excursion because according to the gauge it tuns cool. If it runs warmer it should help with efficiency, burn the diesel better.

I am not sure if they can get a warmer one or not for the 6.0 but the stock one should work just fine if you ask me. I have the stock one in both my psd's. I have never thought that it doesn't get warm enough. My '94 will roast you out on the low fan setting and my '01 is about the same and that is with no winter fronts on the trucks of any sort. I know there is a lot of discussion about the 203 thermostat as far as better fuel mileage because it helps burn better but I am not a believer myself. What little you will gain if any will be so little I don't see it being worth it in IMHO.

My 96 was a cold pig also until I put the warmer t stat in. Since then it puts out good heat and the needle rides in the center of the temp range. The excursion needle rides in the low end like my truck used to.
If swapping the thermostat gets you 1mpg, wouldn't that be worth it?
What's a thermostat run? $20 and 1 hour?
So what would it take to make up $20, 3 fillups?
Times 2.5 on the price. I had to go through I think diesel site to get it because I believe that hotter one was not made by international. I did it more for cab heat in the winter. So it was worth it.

Someone is gonna have to prove to me that you will gain 1 mpg. I don't think it is near that much.

You know it is funny because some guys like you had trouble with heat and it fixed it and I never have so I think it is just a matter of how lucky a guy is on how there truck reacts to the cold. LOL Main thing is it worked for you. Did you keep track of fuel mileage before and after on a consistent basis?
Working on getting the rear speakers installed in my car. It never had them to start with, so I picked up the housings at the junk yard the other day and had some brand new speaker laying around to put in them. The speakers that were in the housings were SHOT.
Does one REALLY need an exhaust tip that a basketball fits in???

Well, stock is 195 degree I believe, can't really see that extra 8 degrees making all that much difference IMO.

I agree Troy. My truck, once fully warmed up, will roast you out of the cab. Even on the cold days.
I really can't see 8 degrees in water temp making all that big of a difference.
