Howdy folks...it happened. Another glorious drive in the Silver Bullet today. Truck ran like a champ and my Boss is digging the H&S addition. I took him for a ride at lunch and put him back in the seat. He was pretty excited.
XRT is firmware downloader only (meaning you can only tune the truck to a specific setting, like towing) and then remove from the truck. No gauges and no shift on the fly between tunes (from towing +40 hp to performance +120hp for example). It's not worth it at all in my opinion. The MM gauges are nice eye candy.
Well it's back to work for me tomorrow. It'll be a short week though and I'm not on call for another three weeks now.....thank goodness.
I'll try to post before then but on Wednesday, I take the truck in so a Ford district rep and field engineer can have a go at it. Keep your fingers crossed.
Is that transmission issue to the point where you can reproduce it for them?
It's intermittent but both they and I have been able to reproduce it during the last couple of visits. It started again tonight as we drove through town....bucking and lurching between 2nd and 3rd. I do know it's not just torque converter lockup though. The other night when it happened, it was almost like someone hit the brakes and the engine seemed to die. I still had my foot on the accelerator so I know I didn't hit the brakes and I know for certain that I didn't catch both pedals with my right foot. Almost as quickly as it happened, it cleared back up, the truck shifted into 3rd, and it smoothed back out.
Hopefully it will fail for the reps too and they'll get the ball moving.
I'm curious, also.
Mine is not as bad but the 3rd gear lurch has been occuring more often lately but only after it's in 3rd.
Not sure what causes that but it's still much better than having the old solenoids.
I've had that lurch after it's been in 3rd for a few seconds which I attributed to TC lockup. I could be wrong though. It has been far more noticeable though since the last round of work they did on it. The other night was bizarre. The thing just felt like someone had turned off the ignition and slammed on the brakes. Enough so that it startled my wife and kids. Lights didn't dim or anything like that but it nose-dived right when it started to shift from 2nd to 3rd. I never lifted off the accelerator and it picked right back up and ran fine after the shift into 3rd.
