53 F100...you are not too far from Mercury Charlie's in Austion, bive him a call and see what he can do for you wrt an IFS install. He uses Heidts IFS systems on his Mercs, an F100 shouldn't be an issue for him.
Hey 53,
No sweat - you'll like it once it's done. Here is a link to one of our members Wallster,
who did his Heidt's IFS this summer - Nice pics showing the process.
Good luck over there! I'll see if I can locate the link to an Ebay seller who has some good prices on IFS's. Lake Travis sounds like fun - that's about 5 miles down the road..

Ok. So now I have to decide which kit to get. Speedway cost $1750, Engineered Hot Rods - $2175 (mostly made is USA), CPP -$2080, TCI -$2134 (includes free 5.0 engine mnt and brake hoses), Gearhead -$1324, Heidts -$2158. Google didn't have anything nice to say about Gearhead. Everyone else has positive feedback.
Stylemon, I may have jumped the gun. I found Chassis Engineering bolt in kits for 48 - 52 but it looks like they don't have one for 53 - 56. You might want to check with them, my catalog is old. I know that Bob's F-100s makes a bolt in kit for 53 - 56, but he has a really bad reputation. I have never heard anybody say anything good about him. I will keep looking, I can't believe that nobody has one...
That's great. I actually have a 49, so you've helped me in my research.

I ordered a Heidt's hub- hub kit from JPL Street Rods. $1725 delivered. Can't wait to slap that baby on there. I also got the motor mount for my 5.0 and trans mount for the AOD.
Ok. The '53 goes to the hot rod shop today to get the front Mustang II suspension kit welded in, the motor and trans mounts welded in, the engine and trans installed, and the 9" from my 70 Torino installed. Don't know if I can upload pics from my iPhone but will try later today.
Right on! Someone has been busy. Tell me, is the track width of the Heidts MII kit the exact same as the stock track width of the stock axle? Looking forward to those pics.
Hey Dano. I'm not sure about the track width. I'm sure it close. I'll eventually be putting on new wheels so I have some flexiblity. I'll post some pics soon. Thx
Yeah I'd really like to know as i have a line on a Heidts kit for a song and a dance. I like how my current wheels look and fit on the truck and wanted to retain them. I see alot of the IFS kits and in a lot of cases they end up with a narrower track width giving the truck's front wheels that "sucked in" look. Just not a big fan of that.
