I have a 3 core ebay radiator of no actual pedigree and it still runs hot. I have a Davis-Craig electronic thermostat control in the fins of the radiator and their recommendation was to have it cut it when the temp gauge goes above 190, but by then I found the engine was so hot the fan couldn't cool it down, so I dropped it down to 160 and have the fun cut in quite a lot. I guess downside is it wears the fan out quicker, but who gives a fig if it keeps it cooler. (It still doesn't but have since discovered my camshaft might have something to do with it.)
Great looking build! Lovin' the big pics! Lots of detail for us blind buggers.
Hi Peter.
I'm looking forward to starting this thing up and seeing how this radiator works. It gets pretty hot in Texas. Today was 93 degrees. I hope it can keep up.
Thanks John. I'll try that. Can you tell me the right orientation of the crossmember. I'm guessing and can't find any good pics to refer to.
The center 2 are angled slightly to conform to the frame if that helps and the front cross member has the 2 anchoring bolts towards the rear of the box.

Thanks John. I hope to find some time this week to spend in the garage. I'll let you know how it works out.
It might make a difference if you install the front cross member, it will lift your box up 2 inches and allow the whole box to move forward, I noticed the same thing with my box..
That did the trick. The bed fits like it should.
Now I'm bolting on the rear fenders.
I played with the steering column today but that's going to take some research. I guess if I built these things all the time I would know how it goes together but since I don't it's like every step requires doing some research.
The steering column is an aftermarket unit from CPP. 30" column shift with tilt. I don't know if the shifter lever at the bottom is supposed to go thru the floorboard or stay in the cab. Plus I'm trying to decide if my drop down bracket drops down far enough. I guess I won't know until I have my seats installed and see how it feels.
Is that screws or rivets I see on the bottom plate.? It's hard to see but looks like socket head screws, you'll be able to remove the shifter fork then re install it after you put the column through the floor..
I did mine different on this build, I used a 4" drop and bolted it to my dash extension. On my panel I used a 2" drop but the column on it went through the firewall just above that floor opening because of the frame swap I did on it. You might be better waiting until you get your seats at the height that is comfortable for you and decide from there. In the Midfifty catalog they say a 4" drop is usually the norm but everyone is different..
