Leaking transmission module question

I have a 1986 F-150 (4x2, 4.9 L-6, automatic) that recently had to have both the exhaust & intake manifolds replaced, & after that was done, my mechanic discovered that the transmission module is leaking & needs to be replaced. I'd asked him to change the transmission oil & filter while my truck was in the shop but for some reason he didn't do it. He said the fluid was really low so he topped it off but it felt like it was stuck in first gear. My truck was shifting just fine when I dropped him off so I had no idea what could've happened. Apparently a hose was loosened during the manifold replacement & when my mechanic got under the truck to check it out, he discovered the module was leaking & sucking up all the oil. He reattached the hose & my truck is shifting just fine now. He's ordering the new module & I'll take my truck back as soon as he gets it (hopefully tomorrow). A friend of mine told me not to drive it anywhere till I can get it fixed or I'll ruin the catalytic converter w/all that oil & I risk ruining the transmission. It's been leaking for a while unbeknownst to me so now I'm kind of worried. When I called Napa to see if they have the module & explained what happened, the parts guy said, "Gee, I hope it didn't ruin the transmission." Thanks a lot, guy! NOT! How would I know if the transmission is ruined? Like I said, he drives fine & nothing seemed unusual other than the loud former exhaust leak, which I was well aware of. I didn't even know I had that problem till today. My mechanic didn't say anything about not driving it till he replaced the module so the friend who freaked me out suggested I call my mechanic in the morning & ask him if he's worried about me saturating the engine & catalytic converter with oil. Now that his exhaust leak is taken care of, he sounds like a brand new truck & even seems like he's driving smoother - I'm confused!

It should be fine for a day or 2, as long as you don't let the trans get excessively low on fluid.

A 1986 vehicle is probably due for a new Cat anyway so I wouldn't be to concerned about that. New high-flow, 3-way Cats can be had for a reasonable price. Catalytic Converters - Exhaust - SummitRacing.com
