Rev's drop...Is this normal.
At idle in park, it revs around 5 or 600.When I bring the rpm up to about a 1000 and hold it there, it will drop down to about 600 on its own. Same if I bring it up to 1500rpm's.
Is there something that keeps it from staying at a higher rpm in park.

Im stumped otherwise.
It's not on the road yet, doing a 2x2 to 4x4 swap and noticed this the other day day.
I've read where some say the whole pedal assembly has to be replaced

and some say they have just taken apart the senor and cleaned it with contact cleaner and it fixed the problem.
I'm pretty handy with electronics, so when I get a chance, I'll take a closer look at it.
If that doesn't work, I'll try pulling the ICP, I hear their a biotch to get at.
Workin outside in the cold her on this one.
I'll let you know what gives if I get this fixed.
Never noticed this when I bought it, idles great but when you bring up the rev to about 1000 or 1200 and hold it, it drops about 300 rpms on it's own after about 2 seconds.
Thanks for the tips.
Strangest thing, I'm in the process of changing out the PSOM, got er all hooked up.
Let it run for a bit and thought I'd give the idle trouble a shot.
Brought it up to to 1200 rpm's, and it held there.

Did the same at 1500 and it still held.
Didn't do nothing else to the truck, could the psom have something to do with this.
I'll check it again tomorrow, and see what happens. Strange, very strange.

There's 7 screws that hold the whole unit in. They each have their own unit inside.
They just "clip in", so all you have to do is "pry" them out.
Pry up and out, the "gas" unit first, it hold the "speedo" unit in. The speedo unit just sit"s there and just comes out as a whole unit. The hardest part is removing the the steering wheel "covers" that surround the gear shift and key section so you can "unhook" the cable for the gear shift display.
Gas and diesel psom's are identical, same part number.
Ya, I hope so too, find this funny that this would affect my rev problem, but time will tell.
EDIT: the steering wheel surround covers don't need to be removed for this.
I had to take mine off for another reason.
I was swapping out the rear diff, so the vss was disconnected.
I figured I'd start er up to keep it charged.
When i did, i noticed the "ABS" light was on, normal, I figured, since I unplugged the vss.
But I figured I'd try the "idle" issue again, just to see....
So I brought it up to about 1000 or 1200 rpm's, and held it there.
Guess what, the revs would go down to about 600 and back up to 1000, steadily,
up and down, with-out me moving the pedal.
After re-installing the vss, everything was back to normal, strange.
So my guess is, the psom and vss, have something to do with your idling issues.
Just thought I'd mention it, in case someone else had idling issue's that they couldn't resolve.
