Sorry, going to call you out on that one. The 6.0L will function just fine on 15W40 oil. Now, when it drops below 30F it won't be happy on cold starts unless you plug in the block heater. Granted allot of folks choose to run a 5W40 synthetic oil year around...I run a synthetic blend 15W40 and plug my block heater in when it's below 30F. For what I'd pay for a gallon of synthetic (at the parts & farm/ranch stores)...I could buy two synthetic blend. Does it make my choice better than yours? Nope, to each their own on oil...just make sure it's the right ASE rating.

There are a LOT of folks on this forum who use them and I've never ever heard of anyone having a problem with them. If you hit the fumoto valve then you're going to tear up a lot of other stuff first. As far as backing off or coming open it takes two distinctly different motions to open it and it has no more chance of backing out than a regular oil plug.

If you choose the 10w30, be sure it's a diesel rated oil.
And while you are under the truck, don't forget the most important part of the oil change procedure.
The safety check
Tire inflation, wear,
brake pads, rotors, lines, e brake cables
suspension and steering components, tie rods, steering stabilizer, springs, shocks particularly those lower ball joints and steering stabilizer
exhaust clamps, hangers
driveline
Differentials, leaks, breathers operable
transfer case
And whatever else I forgot, back under again

I ran 15w-40 Amsoil for 6 years or so year round. I rarely ever plugged in the block heater(only when it got below-10F) It definitely starts better in the winter the 5w-40 though.
