What oil do you use?

I need to do an oil change here pretty soon and was wondering what you guys would reccomend. It has 120637 miles on it running Mobil1 synthetic 10w-30 and a Fram oil filter.

Interesting that you only listed synthetics in the poll. I don't use them because I think they are a waste of money. Others here definitely have a different opinion. If you're stuck on syn, it'd be hard to beat the M1 for reputation.

I'm sure your choice of a Fram filter will get slammed also. Personally, I think they are fine.

I've been using the Castrol Syntec 10W-30 with a motorcraft filter for a little over a year now on my '97 4.6L with no complaints (129k miles)

I actually had the truck dyno'd back then with my normal Castrol then changed over to Syntec and dyno'd again... +3 horsepower

Seriously though, the Syntec has been good to me, so I plan to continue using it until my truck dies (since it's a Ford that'll be after me )

I use valvoline 5w30 and motorcraft filter on my 98 Expedition and i have 218,000 miles on it and have never had any problems. For your application a some 10w30 would be fine and the fram filter would be fine.

I go cheap, and it seems to work out pretty well.
Super Tech (Wal-Mart Brand, same people that make Havoline, I think) 20W50, and a Super Tech filter. Works great for me, and less than $10 investment.

Exxon SuperFlo or Shell 10w-30 on sale for $0.59/qt. + $2 SuperTech filter.

First off,you are doing yourself a favor by not using that POS Fram oil filter! If it were me I would use the Mobil1.

Depending on the application, Chevron Supreme, Havoline, and Mystic JT-8. I have no need for a synthetic, like most folks. I usually buy Motorcraft or Purolator filters but have used NAPA Gold as well. I would consider the Wally World filter as a last choice. It is better than most at filtering and construction is decent.

No synthetic here either. It's real hard to justify when it takes 14 quarts to change my oil. I'm not a big proponant of extended drain intervals in diesels which is why I change by the book. I usually use Shell Rotella T 15W 40, but have also used Delo 15W 40.
