Hi all,
Well, it's time for an oil change. I don't think I want to go with synthetic, since the warm weather is coming, andI don't wanna spend the $$$! So, what isi the best dino oil and filter?
Thanks
Well over the years i have used most of the major brands of oil. But i have been using the Mobil dino for the last few changes and the Ford filter. It probably dosnt really mater much because i suspect all the major oils are very good. I also heard once that you should stick with the same brand each change but i dont really know how that can matter. Joe
As luck would have it, i just came in from changing my oil.
well how i justify running full syn (rotella 5w40) is that the oil change interval increases. i can go around 5000/7000 miles intervals. i do change the oil filter with a Motorcraft FL1995 or a Moble1 filter (which ever is on sale at the local parts store).
Walmart has a good deal on Rotella syn for $20 a gallon. not a bad deal if you can double your change interval over dino...
i think the benefits for cool/cold weather starting and for that matter smoother starts in the warmer months are easier on the ol' PSD.
just my 2 cents.
btw, i used Rotella T dino and a FL1995 filter before i switched to full syn.
Mobil Delvac has a rebate going on right now if you're pinching pennies. Rotella, Delo, Valvoline, they're all good oils if you're getting the 15w-40 diesel stuff. I've used them all and had oil analysis done with them. The motorcraft filter from wally world is hard to beat on price and quality.
My early 1999 with 110k miles has only used Rotella 15w-40w dino since new. and my last oil analysis by Blackstone laboratories tells me that I have a perfectly wearing PSD. Hope it helps.
Been using Rotella T - Autozone has Valvoline Premium blue 15-40 diesel on sale - buy 2 gallons get 1 free. -Was 12.99 @. Picked up 12 gallons the other day. Anybody tried this yet?
