i have just purchase a 94 f150 2wd with 5.0 not sure what transmission is in the truck. iv tryed searching but no luck. but here is my problem from a start to about 40mph i never here the transmission shift and if i accelerate past 40mph the truck just reves as if it was not in gear. any suggestions would be gratefully appricated thanks
Check for proper adjustment/operation of the TV cable, if you haven't looked into that yet I'd start there.
If not sure how to set cable a simple "Google" search something like "AOD TV cable adjustment" will return many hits video and otherwise type "how to" on the subject.
tryed shifting manually it just stays in same gear never shifts but im thinking the tv cable does need adjustment because wen im in reverse the dash says im in park and wen in nutral says reverse and so on so possible adjustment is needed thanks for the info . will try adjusting today and see what happens
ok my friends there were a couple bolts loose n now tightend. the truck will now **** 1st n 2nd but no o/d. wen i press the o/d button the truck acts as if its in nutrual and just revs up till i press the button again... and suggestions on this problem? btw i tryed the computer self test and came up with 1 code 53 wich was tps signal low thanks guys
This truck will have the first year for the 4R70W transmission, it basically is a electronic AOD, it also has a 14 bolt pan that is shaped like the AOD, and no TV cable.
The reason why it feels like it shift to neutral on the 3-4 shift is because the overdrive band is applied and the forward drum is released. So if the band cant hold it free wheels because the forward clutch released.
If I had to guess I would think that the band inside your trans is burnt and that your trans will have to be rebuilt. I would see this failure over and over in our shop.
i found a AOD trans online for 200 bucks but its out of a 92 f150 do you think this will work in my truck also is there any other transmission that will workk in my truck say a mustang trans for instance?
Another 4r70w would be eaasiest. The aod would"work" but you would likely spend more on extra's to make it work (computer, etc) than just getting the same trans as you have now.
