All 1960/65 FoMoCo engines were painted semi gloss black. The valve covers were painted specific colors, as this is how FoMoCo (since 1952) ID'd the engines sizes for garages and body shops.

What color the valve cover was for a 1964 223 I-6, I don't recall, it could be black, red or blue.

AFAIK, there is no book available that lists the myriad valve cover colors that FoMoCo used 1952/65 for I-6's and V8's. If I became aware of such a book, I'd buy it in a NY minute.

Passenger Car valve cover(s) for the same year/engine size as a truck or Econoline were usually painted different colors.

Every year, FoMoCo sent wall charts with all the valve covers colors/applications to the dealers parts dept's to pass out to their wholesale accounts.

The problem is, I haven't seen one of these charts since LBJ was prez.

What is wrong with posting a question to anyone here on the forum, the user who posted the question about the color of the valve covers may not be the only one who needed to know that??????

I learn a lot everyday by reading past questions and answers from different people. I don't think a private message to anyone is necessary unless the question or answer is of a private or personal one..................

If you ask a general question in leiu of specific to ND, he will still answer and provide valuable information.
