I'm replacing all of the hardware on my rebuild and noticed that Tractor Supply and Lowes do not carry any of the flange nuts or bolts. Also, they do not carry the bolts with the bare heads on them (I do not know what to call those bolts but they have a starter like tip on them).
What are you guys doing for these nuts and bolts? Are you mail ordering them or are you using washers in place of the flanges?
i did see the bolts at lowes and home depot but they were in the draws across from the bulk bolts out in the open, menards has a good selection
i got lucky and got a bunch of stainless steel hardware from a friend ,can you say rust free

Depending on the type of hardware, it might suit you to hit up AMK Products at this link: Fastener Book
If it is typical hardware, I wander around the JY collecting the best of the best I can find. With a little cleanup, some come out great and some just OK for a daily driver.

Thanks wasowski. I briefly looked at those but since I couldn't tell if they were grade 8 I dismissed them. I'll go and look again.

Thank HIO Silver, that book would seem very helpful.
Junk yard is a good source ,(I grab as much as I can, they don't charge me for bolts) or find what you can that are close. I was told by a bolt company we used at work that automotive bolts have a patten on them and you can only find what is close in aftermarket.
Another source is boltdepot.com, you can get small qtys. I order from McMaster all the time, but on many fasteners you have to buy in bulk.....100 or more. I use a lot of fasteners in my business but some of the odd ones, like for autos, I don't need hundreds to have to keep around.
