Need to upgrade my old Sony Mavica FD-88--that's right FD for floppy drive! (This thing is a work horse for most of my needs but its nice to move into the late 20th century sometime!)
Also looking for an inexpensive but good video camera too. Seeing a few clips of various finished projects here on FTE makes me wonder what's most common or most recommended by those here? If its helpful I'd like to stay under $200 if that's even possible.
Flip cameras like these are pretty nice. They are relatively cheap, anywhere from $110-180, and produce 720p HD video which is nice. I would recommend them, especially if you plan on using it to make videos in or around the truck as they are quite small compared to your typical camcorder. Now, there are higher quality cameras out there (for a higher price), but in my humble opinion, these are probably the best bang for your buck purchase. I actually owned one and I quite liked it, although I never used it much.
Thanks for the suggestion Gunner---I did look at that type and price range but was just a bit put off by the end-user negative comments. Despite the overwhelming positives I just wondered if they were as good (or as bad) as I read.
You're right though about it being useful for no more than I'd want it for---the price is well within what I'd want to spend too. Not cheap, just "careful" with my money!
I have a great digital Sony handycam for sale @ $175. It has a case, charger, two batteries, remote and all necessary cabling. It is a model DCR-TRV350 with memory stick or video tape.
PM me if you are interested and I'll send you some pics.
I thought that the smart phones were suppose to be the demise of the camcorders and cameras?
That might have been the wish and desire of the cell phone manufacturers but the quality of what they produce assures still and video cameras aren't yet dead!
Fixnair that's a great offer but a bit more camera than I need---thanks for the offer though!
