I was at a race this weekend and my old video camera was acting up bad so my buddy that was with me had his brother bring his new digital video camera down so i could use it. all i have to say is wow these things are neat. the quality is great and we where able to take photos off the video and upload them to the computer. i was amazed, i know get with the times right? only problem i have with it was that it was so small and light weight there was like nothing to grab on it and hold it still. but all in all i was impressed enough that i want to get one befor next weekend. this camera will be used for taking alot of video at night at a dragstrip. any suggestions of what make and model to buy?? don't want top end but don't want jumk kinda want upper half. thanks

You mean it wasn't an 8mm Bell & Howell? Oh, the good old Days.
Seriously, I don't know much about video cameras but anytime I want to buy something I check into Consumer's Reports for their ratings on things. Their advice has been a big help to me over the years. I'm sure their are guys around here that probably have experience with video cameras and can give you some good advice, as soon as they get out of bed.
I too will probably buy a new video camera. What. . . I dunno.
I had (in an earlier thread) stated that my wife had a Panasonic. WRONG!!!
She has a JVC (GR-AX820U) VHS-C camcorder. Our 9 yr. old 'sort of' dropped it, and now the door that holds the tape in, won't close and lock.
$???? to fix it.
I mean, it takes (used to) great pictures, but, it's 8 yrs. old and my wife is looking for 'something' new.
Maybe I'll get her a new one for Christmas. . . . . . .
I have two regular VHS cameras. Pop the tape out and straight to the VCR. Unfortunately, they are so large, they look like shoulder fired missle launchers, and I am afraid to use them in public. (OK it's because I get kidded about them...)
I think the next one will be the straight to DVD camera--I've seen a few and the price is coming down. That's what I'd do if I had to buy one tomorrow.
