Tring to clock my 3g put can't get the nut off. I'm going to spray with pb blaster just wondering if retaining nut is counter clock direction or clock direction. I don't want to break my alternator, any other ideas. May have to cut off, thanks.
Yea one tool I don't have. Found a nice 3g and did not want to damage it. I was perrty sure it was counter clock wise but it just did not want to move. Might be a good idea to look into impact wrench for future use, thanks.
yep, an impact is the way to do it. There is no substitute for the correct tool.
There is a shadetree way to do it but lemme add a disclaimer: PERFORM AT YOUR OWN RISK!
1. Insert a screwdriver into the case to jamb the internals. Choose a hole next to a rib on the front case that has alot of "meat" and be careful not to damage its internals.
2. Undo the pulley nut using a socket or combination wrench. Yes, it will loosen counterclockwise. Want to smack it with a hammer? Do so at your own risk!
