Power Brakes

I was just flipping through a catalog and saw that brake boosters for a '65 - '66 ford are available. What do I need to put one of these on my '66 f250 4X4?

Your 66 F250 4x4 cab is the old step type.

You need a booster and mount for a 61 to 64. Or modify the plate that is currently bolted to your firewall to accept the later pattern.

I found the entire set up off a 67 3/4. everything bolted right in. Had to adjust the rod. Got a new fitting from Napa and a rebuilt Master cylinder. Been a lot of years ago so I don't remember the part numbers. I might have the box (part number) with the old master cyl. inside but I am sure Napa can get one for you. I too would like to know about the booster in case I need one some time.

My plate is different than the one on our '64 F100. My bottom bolts are ~5 1/8" apart. The '64 appeared to be a little over 4" (it's dark out).

The '64 plate is square and my '66 is 5 sided as if to cover a hole above it.

Does someone have the measurements of the holes in some of the different booster brackets?

I just figured out how to use my parts book. Would brackets for a '65 - '66 F350 work?

1967: The master cylinders, brake boosters, proportioning valves are 1967 only.

1967: There are three different proportioning valves: F100/250 2WD & F350 / F100 4WD / F250 4WD.

Power brake booster and etc:

1964/66 F350/700: Illustration Section 23, Page 1.

1965/66 F100/250: Illustration Section 23, Page 8.

Brake booster mounting brackets (basic numbers 2031-2): Text Section 20, Page 11.

Omit F350 Model 84 = Open Drive-Away.

This truck above is a F100 which uses an entirely different cab than the F250 4x4 for 1966. All the parts and pieces to 79 will bolt right up.

The odd plate you have is the firewall reinforcement it differs on how it mounts and looks relative to the 61 to 64 plate. You can redrill the plate to accept a later bolt pattern booster brakcets. Use the same counter sunk screws as the master to attach it.

Parts may all bolt up, but if parts are 1967 only, they'll be harder to find if something gives up the ghost.
