'76 brake booster on a '66?

I'm thinking of installing power brakes on my 1966 F100. I'd like to keep the 4-drum set-up as it's all fairly new parts. I have access to a booster and master cylinder from a 76. Would it be possible to swap that in? How much modification would be involved?

The master cyl. & booster was engineered for a disc/drum setup. I personally have problems with mix matched parts on a vehicle of mine. I do run a 76 master cylinder and booster in my 66 pick up but it is with the 76 I-beam disc brake setup as was designed.

You could use the '76 booster and a '67 drum/drum mc.

So the 67 drum drum mc is different from the 66?

If you want to use the 4 drum brake system use a master cylinder designed for them. A dual master cylinder suitable for (front) drum brakes would be limited to 1967 and 1968 iirc.

The '67 is a dual reservoir unit. It does not have a built-in provision for the brake light switch.

Thanks Tedster. That's good to know. And John, I can certainly see the wisdom in what you say. In fact, I might have gone the route of swapping in the whole disc set-up if I'd known it was an option, but as it stands I've got the fairly new drum system on the front and for now at least I'm hoping for a fairly easy way to keep it and still get power. Thanks guys

There is a brake booster that was used in 1965 and 1966 as an option on the F100 and F250 trucks. One of those should be a bolt-in deal if you can find one. They are smaller at a little over 6" in diameter.
