66/67 Power Booster

Any body know if 66 and 67 power boosters interchange?
I have a 66 that I put 70 power disc on the only problem being the booster rod was an inch to long so I put 1" square tube spacers between the firewall and booster brackets. Brakes have worked fine. The 66 boosters are still available but I can get a 67 from junk yard much cheaper. I think I measured it once and the 67 was the same length as the 66.

Ed, I do not think the '67 is the same as the '66. I experimented with this and found the '67 and later can be altered, but they are not a direct bolt up.
Check this out: See if the master cylinder or booster for '67 and '68 is the same. If so, I can tell you they will not directly fit a '66.
May I suggest the following: Get the booster from a mid '70s truck, and be sure to get the knuckle bracket that supports the booster to the firewall.
Be sure to get the type that has a flat bar instead of a rod from the pedal to the booster - it is much easier to drill a new hole in the correct spot on the bar than to shorten a rod.

I have a friend who has an original 66 f250 cs with power drum single bowl. Do you think there would be any reason the power booster wouldn't work from a 66 pwr single bowl on a 66 with 70dual bowl disc setup?

1966 F250: C5TZ-2005-C

1967 F100/250: C7TZ-2005-C / 1967: First year for the dual master cylinder.

The firewall used on 1967 F100/350's is 1967 only, why the 1967 booster is different than the one used 1968 and later.

Not only is the firewall different between 1967 and 1968/72, but so is the bracket the pedals attach to, the pedals themselves are also 1967 only. The dash is also different.

The 1968/72 boosters were different for drums or discs.

I never could understand Ford's reasoning introducing the new 1967's then changing the firewall in 1968 along with the bracket for the pedals, the pedals themselves, the sheet metal dash, the radio, heater, and cluster bezel....and other stuff.

The 1967 doors are also one year only. The Fed's demanded that all vehicles had to have door lock ***** in 1968. The only carryover parts from the 1967 doors are the hinges, glass, weatherstrips and division bars. Everything else was changed including the door shells themselves.

I have a 70 booster on my 66 and I had to make spacers since mine had the round rod going to the pedal, since it works fine I will leave it alone. Jeff
