fuel filter leak

My fuel filter is leaking from the bottom of the water release valve is there an o ring in there that that valve seats into? Any ideas?

you can get a filter that replaces the 2 piece with a one piece. NAPA carries them but i dont know the part #

Yes there is. It's more like a slice of rubber line. There is also a valve core in the bottom that could leak if some trash were to get in it while open. It opens when the wheel is turned all the way up. Remove The drain bowl from the filter. I put the wheel lightly in a vice and used a wrench on the inside part of the valve to separate it. Took mine to IH and they found one in a box of odds and ends. LOL. When you see how it works you'll see that it's not good to overtighten the wheel after draining. Hope this helps.

i use the napa one piece filter. no more leaks from the water separator!!

Ok so if I use the one piece what do you do for a water seperator?

The one piece has the water seperator built in. And you can get them with the WIF sensor also, but they cost more than the ones that use the stock bottom drain.

yup. the one piece has the drain in it. but in 24 years and 493,000 miles, not once have i ever had to drain the filter.

hahaha you really cant make that **** up.

Since i have owned this ford I have had the greatest experience with help from people.

I could be sitting with my Eclipse pushed off the side of the road at a stop light with a dead battery waving jumper cables at every **** on the road and no one would stop...

Hell in this ford the only time i was on the side of the road I had 3 people stop to see if i needed help, and it was RAINING....

There are no people like Ford people.
