Transmission PROBLEM!!!

ok im helping my buddy work on his 04' F250 Superduty PSD. He has been having major engine problems but we got it put back together and then had another problem so we had to repull the engine. We got it all ready to pull out and had the transmission jacked up a bit from a bottle jack on top of a cinderblock but as we pull the engine out we some how managed to pop the tranny just enough to cause the block to self-destruct and the end result after we got the engine out was that the outer output shaft coming out of the tranny snapped and can be pulled out now which im assuming IS NOT how it is suppose to be.

Does anyone have any idea on how you can get this fixed or if it can even be fixed? If it can what would be a cost range for the parts and if it would be somewhat advised to attempt to repair it yourself? We are working pretty much in his driveway but between the two of us we are pretty good for work but neither of us have tackled a tranny. Any help would be awesome!!!

Did you leave the torque converter on the engine when you pulled the engine? That's the wrong way to do it in most cases.

It sounds like you broke the stator support. A stator support shouldn't be too expensive if you can buy it. A trans shop can prob get it from Dacco or Sonnax or similar. You'll have to take the front pump out and take it apart to get the stator support out most likely. I've never taken a 4R100 apart so I can't be sure. I'm sure somebody here can speak to it better.

I'd be more worried about the torque converter. If you broke that stator support shaft off there's a good chance the converter is wadded on the inside.

yes we left the converter on for this pull but that was only because the engine was seized and we couldnt spin it to get to all the bolts so we were kinda stuck doing it the bad way and it didnt quite work out for us but thanks for the info... will start my search there...

Unless the input shaft is bent, the converter is damaged, or the pump is damaged.

The trans in that truck is a 5r110, not a 4r100.
