Ok so my 450 is still in the shop i dont no if i have a bad truck or dumb mechanic. The gpr that was on there was a plane old starter solinoide. He said that because it wasnt grounded properly the solinoide was trying to get a ground any where it could. His theory is the it cooked the injector modguale or some thing like that ...... Make sence? First he said it was the gpr. And the truck was running well, i originaly took it there for a oil leek. Id love to take it some where els but he has so many things apart on it right nOw. Your thought please
I thought this story looked familiar. As stated in that other thread (I think), if the engine starts and runs, the PCM is not "cooked". And certainly there's no tie between the PCM, the glow plug circuitry and any possible oil leak. As advised above, get that truck out of there. Put a Stancor 586-902 relay in for a GPR and go from there.
One question, the answer to which might indicate a remaining problem -- since a starter relay only has one small terminal, where is the wire that's _supposed_ to connect the relay to the PCM connected?
It had 2 small termanels on ther. Ur saying this guy is yanking my chain ? Ya i put that post up when he said it could be my pcm. What does pcm even stand for ?
Hmm, well, even a relay with two small terminals can be base-grounded. The base would simply be ganged with one of the small terminals. Then again, it might be a base-isolated relay, but simply a wimpy one, not rated for the extended "on" times needed for the glow plug circuit. In any event, rather than speculating on it, just get one you know you can trust.
