hey guys i have a 1993 f-250 banks turbo on it. well truck been running great and starting great! I love the truck. well everythign was going great then one day drove it home (bouncy road and was running it pretty good). Well i parked it and next day went to start it up and all you heard was cylonoid click. tryed it bunch of timed same thing. then went out later on in day started up fine so pulled it over to garage cleaned all termionals and checked batterys they both are full charged and also good and all battery contacts are good. went to start it back up infrotn of garage and it went click. gettign mad at it. i went to pull it back out of way with tractor. as soon as we hooked up to it i tryed it one last time and same thing. so this time i just held it into the start position for 7-10 sec then after that time holding it on start all of sudden turns over fires right back up. I know nothign at all is wrong withthe motor. what in the starter or ignition or wires could it be?
thanks,
jimmy
ps after i got it running parked it up out of way tryed it about 20times since and it works. then all of sudden last time i tryed it it clicked then paused for about sec then turned over.
First I would check the connections down on the starter itself. I have seen the connections on the starter loosen up over time. Also make sure the solenoid is tight on the starter. I ran into that a couple times with similar symptoms. The vibration from th engine combined with rough roads had loosened up the bolts that help the solenoid on which in turn was taking the ground connection from the solenoid. And also check your ground cable where it bolts to the block.
I had similar problem, turned out to be the solinoid on the starter going bad. You can replace just that part, but if you have a lot of miles on the truck I'd replace the starter & soinoid with one with a lifetime warrenty (autozone or other)
If it acts like it's not getting power, then not only would I check the terminals on the solenoid and the starter, but check going back up the wires to make sure that the wire strands haven't broken inside the casing. I used to install all of the goodies on police cars for a city on South Carolina, and the Intersection lights (sweeping lights) oin the bar lights were notorious for breaking the strands of wire inside of their casing due to the back and forth movement of the light. The wire looked intact, but when I pulled on the wire, I noticed that the casing stretched and eventually broke. Also, check the terminals themselves. If they're the threaded post type (like a bolt), the head inside of the solenoid or the starter motor case could have come loose inside. Just some thoughts.

thank you that was the problem it was loose because the wiringharness is really tight going up to there and streached. I tightened the crimp installed it and sice then i have had no problems.
