I've placed an EBPV delete pedestal on my truck and I'm wondering if I need to delete my exhaust back pressure sensor too? My engine is on an engine stand right now being prepped to be put back in my truck so I have to way of driving the engine to test it out with the sensor in.
Do not delete the sensor. The PCM references it for other things as well.
Thanks for the info on that.
I also seem to remember someone telling me I could fabricate my own plug for the end of the electrical connector from the engine harness that was used to plug in to the EBPV valve. I think the purpose is to keep the pcm from throwing a code?
Use a resistor. 470 ohm 1/2 w then it won't throw the code.
Thanks Tyler. I should probably do a search to find a write-up on how to affix the resistor to the harness end. I'll post a link to one if I can find it here.
It cost me a dollar for 6 resistors and it will cost you around 100$ to rebuild the ebp solenoid. Mine stays on way too long, even after its warm. Kills engine power and makes egts high while its active. I personally don't feel that I need it.
Thanks for the info. Just was not sure of the benefit. Mine stays on for quite awhile when it is cold, unless it is pluged in.
Might have to think about the delete myself for the new rebuild.
thanks again
I got rid of mine when I put the van turbo on years ago. I do miss the help it gave to warm the engine up on cold days, but its not a big difference. I just plug it in when its below freezing. As for the sensor, it doesnt set a check engine light. It throws a soft code, the only way to tell is if you hook up a scan tool.
