SES light came on and is throwing PO472 EBP. Is the need to fix now or can it wait? Timing with work schedule is bad. I am straight piped (no cat or muffler). Did not run any differently, for the 4 miles, but am leary of what could be.
Thanks
You should be ok as long as the butterfly isn't getting stuck closed. That may be the code for the sensor though as well, which is also not a big deal. Just get to it when you can. Truck run any different? I have had this code pop up, but it's a soft code, so no CEL. I replaced the sensor and all is fine.
At the base of the Turbo there is a Plug which controls the EBPV. You can flip the wire lock up and remove the plug. This will prevent any activation and the Spring will keep it open. Unplug the Connector at the EBPS.
It's not the end of the world. Just some troubleshooting when you have time to determine what the actual issue at hand.
Remember your Engine will not reach Operating Temperature as quickly as it does with the Valve. So, no Right Foot through the Floor Board before it's warm.
P0472Exhaust back pressure sensor circuit low input
What that means is the PCM is detecting a voltage lower than expected at the lower end of the scale. Probably just a bad sensor. If you unplug the sensor you will probably throw the same code. Won't hurt anything.
Worth checking for soot buildup in the tube and on the sensor. To prevent tweaking the bracket stabilize it with a second wrench while removing the sensor. A bit of trimmer string fed thru the tube can clean the gunk. Tubes also rust thru so inspect as well as possible. Cleaning the sensor don't be too enthusiastic as they are a bit fragile up in there.
If the sensor is not providing good info to the PCM it will hurt your fuel mileage.
The sensor is about $80 and the tube from Dorman is $30 or something like that. Mine was rusted in half. I replaced it with a Dorman and it's been good for a year. It's still shiny and new looking LOL
