I bought my truck with an egr cooler delete but the system has not been deleted from my computer I have code P0401 "insufficient egr flow" I've always just assumed it was bc the cooler itself was gone. My valve is still there and clean..
My question is... Is the egr valve doing anything at all or just taking up space? I have a "miss/studder
It should be moving according to the commands of the PCM....regardless if it's in the EGR valve port or not.

A custom tune will take care of that. Matt at Gearhead or Jody at DP-Tuner both have custom tunes that will "convince" the PCM to reduce it's usage of the valve in the open position.

Leave the egr valve in for fan operation
Since the egr cooler has been deleated its not flowing exhaust gases so it could be stuck all the way open but would have no affect on drivability Studder/Miss
is the studder miss always there
have you checked for codes with anything recently and with something other than a SGII
What work have you done to it
thought you had the FICM done by Ed or am I confussed with someone else
No you're not confused the FICM is working good.. The only DTC I show is that one as per sg2 and the sctx3.. I'm tempted to take it to ford for diags just to know for sure but figured I'd ask... It's not icp or EBP and not FICM.
Blade basically I'm having the same problem big dirty is just I haven't tried as much stuff to fix it and no codes...
"I have a miss/studder " Im sorry to here that talk to your family dorctor. unless you mean the truck. in wich case more info would be needed like when it happens and if you have any codes.
so far as the egr valve goes as stated it taks up space and keeps the pcm somewhat on the happy side. it has nothing to flow however thats why you have the p0401
