about 7 years ago my buddy bought a a 79 f-350 4x4. i helped him build it up and take care of all the little gremlins. it has a 4 inch suspension lift a 2 inch body and 36 inch tsl's. well he sold it to another buddy who used it as a spray truck for the last 6 years and the engine is shot (sounds like a diesel now it has a 400) and he got the tranny so hot so many times that it would collapse the seal and blow out tranny fluid, he would fill it up and take off again so the tranny is kinda iffy at best. well they made the deal if he ever sold the truck that my buddy would have first shot at it and he bought a new sprayer so the truck is up for grabs. just recently the one guy that wants to buy the truck back pissed the guy off that has the truck currently and he told me he won't sell it back to him. i was told i could buy it for 1000 but i think i can get it for 800 dollars and the body is solid on it. i am not going to **** off my other friend over the truck so do i wait for the one guy to tell the other one he isn't going to sell it to him and then buy it or what to do? and i don't really need another truck anyways as i have a 78 f-150 4x4 that i put alot of time, effort, and money into. i could probably get 2500 for my f-150 and start over with the f-350 and have a stronger running gear in the end. my current truck has a brand new motor and all new steering in it so i don't want to part it out. all i have to do to the current truck is put in new spindle bearings, check out rear end, and clean out rear gas tank and it is mechanically perfect where this one would be an all new project to start with. just looking for idea's sorry for the
If you already have a project truck and don't really need another project I'd put the money I would have spent purchasing the the F350 and finish my current truck.
Plus bad engine, bad tranny, questionable drivetrain, $800 is still too much. If he'd GIVE it to you, well, that's a different story.
I paid $160 and a shotgun for my truck. Sounds like it was in better condition than yours. This isn't your dogfight and you don't need the truck anyways. Politley decline all offers and move on with life......
If you can get it for $800 buy it, the front D60 is worth that alone, and part out the rest.
Problem is, he is likely to get sideways with either one friend or the other, unless you really need the truck and don't mind losing a friend, I'd leave it alone.
you guys are right, i guess if they can't work it out he is putting the truck on a consignment auction sale this spring and if my other buddy doesn't bid on it i will probably bid on it. other then that i am staying out of it. not worth the drama.
If this "friend" is going to act that way then why even be friends with him in the first place ? Sounds like a one way relationship (I won't even call that a friendship). Do what you want but either way I'd sever all ties with this person. There is just going to be trouble with him in the future with one thing or another.
Acting as the middle man gets you no where! If YOU want the truck, and have the time and $ to take care of it that's one thing, but doing the end-around from one buddy to the other is a dumb move.
the reason the one guy is p.o'd at the other is cause one took what the other said out of context when he was drinking and the other is upset about this. they are both good guys but both head strong. i got married this last summer and both of them were groomsmen.
