Trade Dilemma, need help.
A while back I did some work for a friend, and he ended up giving me a 410 Mercury Marauder engine and tranny out of like a 66/67 Merc. I'm looking to start restoring my 77 1/2 Lowboy and I came across somebody that has another one missing basically the front clip and the engine. The owner wants to trade even up for the engine/trans, but I'll be honest I have no idea what it's worth and he's the kind of guy you wonder if you're getting screwed when he's THIS eager to do a trade. Does anybody out there have any idea what it's worth (the engine/tranny) so I don't end up taking one in the shorts?

What does he want to put it in?
Someone who is looking for a original replacement engine might pay more.
Also, Do you know of the condition of this engine /tranny?

Trade Dilemma, need help.
Apparently the engine and tranny were pulled when they were still running. The original car was T-boned and totalled. I think this guy wants to use it for building a racecar possibly, it wouldn't be for a resto. He's what I like to call a "Hoarder of all Ford parts".

i'd look at it this way..... he's got something you want, and you've got something he wants.... if you don't want/need that tranny/motor combo, then why not trade it off for the other truck.... it's really up to you... what ever you think it's worth.
