. If you do not close the IPR your are not isolating the High pressure oil side and the air is dropping back into the crank case ( someone correct me if im wrong please) I would close the IPR and see if you can still hear it comming from the passenger side or crank it over with the valve covers off. .
Sounds DEAD ON the MONEY Duke
And just to add if you use B+ volts to close the IPR Keep it Short like 30 seconds 1 minute MAX or you will burn that IPR out.
Im not shure but I think the PCM uses 5volts or less to control the IPR
i have done the air test with the ipr closed and no air flow at all. no leaks heard even with a piece of hose run from my ear down into the head. the truck is reasembled and i am waiting on the ford house mehanic to come by with a computer one day this week. i was told tonight about the same type problem out of a 6.0 and the cam sensor was bad. does that sound like b.s.? he said that while cranking the truck your tac. should move if the sensor is good. mine does not move at all for the ten second cylces i crank on it. can someone give me some input on that?
SYNC is achieved when the PCM receives a signal from the Crankshaft sensor and Camshaft sensor indicating they are working and in time. If the Crankshaft and Camshaft sensors are working improperly, the PCM cannot calculate engine speed or cylinder position, preventing fuel delivery.
No SYNC with an RPM signal typically is probably a faulty CMP sensor/circuit problem.
No SYNC and no RPM signal, typically is probably a faulty CKP sensor/circuit problem.
i went into the engine and found the hpop to be bad. i am going to replace the pump and all o-rings i come into contact with . will update again when she fires up.
this one had the aluminum pump with the cast iron housing. it had gray sludge coming out of the back with metal flakes in it. also the tube off the top that supplies the oil rails was rather loose and move up and down and around more than it seemed like it should. so i am replacing it all.
replaced the hpop and all o-rings i came into contact with. changed oil and filter. she fired up and is running good at normal operating conditions. the problem i am noticing is running down the road at 70 mph and i punch it it down shifts and the turbo spools up but i gain no speed. the truck sat for exactly 2 months with a half tank of diesel in it. could i have bad diesel or air still in the hpo system causing this? it idles great and is not running hot. after i drove it for about 45 minutes i rechecked the clamps on the turbo pipes and retightened them. no change? cranking time is 2 seconds till it fires up. i ran the diesel down to a 1/4 tank then refilled this morning and added some seafoam to the tank.
