49 F-47

Just picked up a 91 T Bird SC with less than 25,00 km or 15,500 miles on a completely rebuild AOD tranny and IRS with aluminum 8.8 diff and 3.27 gears to install in my 49 f-47 ( same as the American F1) for $550. David at Everyday XJ is supplying the Jag IFS with power rack and pinion and ps pump. This guy has the best prices on jag stuff I found on the net. I had the old 289 turning over which is great considering it was parked for the last 20 years. Makes me feel better that its a good candidate for a rebuild. By god I think I'm ready to get this build started....YES!

Sounds like a good build, but you may want to check the lug pattern on the Tbird rear end. It's 5x4.25 and will be different than the front.

Ya I know but I've read a number of posts suggesting getting the hubs re-drilled. This would be my first preference over using wheel adapters. Maybe I will get the jag hubs re-drilled to match the T Bird. I really like the rims that are on the car right now. Only problem I can see is they are 16 inch an I want to get the truck as low as possible. Once the suspensions are installed it will be easier to tell which way to go. Any other suggestions...

FYI, in case you didn't already know, the Jag uses a 5 on 4.75 wheel bolt pattern, same as GM. There's probably a lot more wheel choices in the 4.75 pattern than the 4.25. If there's enough meat on the rear hubs, redrilling those to match the Jag front would be the way to go, imho.

Like you say if there's enough meat on the rear hubs I could go to 4.75 and run the chev rims. Another option may be to get all 4 hubs drilled to 4.5. Lots of wheel options for this as well. I need to ask 48 steel what he has. I know he's running the same setup.
